: The Systems Technologies Department is seeking an R&D, Nuclear Engineer to support the development and performance analysis of gamma and neutron radiation sensor systems\. **On any given day, you'll be called on to:** + Contribute to the design, development, and analytical assessment of a variety of sensor systems focused on radiation detection;+ Use and develop analytical tools, models, and algorithms to infer material presence and/or properties from passive and potentially active measurements;+ Plan and execute experimental test campaigns;+ Develop expertise in these areas and advocate improved concepts to sponsors;+ Focus effort on signature analysis, modeling nuclear phenomena, and working with sensor hardware;+ Interact daily with staff in collaborating departments and with US Government sponsors;+ Interact with the R&D community in the development and implementation of innovative sensing technologies and algorithms;+ Travel periodically as needed\. Required: + Master's degree or higher in Nuclear Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other relevant STEM discipline plus 2 years of relevant experience;+ Demonstrated experience with radiation detection technologies and/or data acquisition/data analysis systems;+ Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q level security clearance\. Desired: + PhD in nuclear engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or other relevant discipline;+ Undergraduate degree in a STEM discipline;+ Demonstrated experience, training and knowledge in/of the following: radiation sensing technologies, gamma radiation spectroscopy, non\-proliferation and nuclear fuel\-cycle issues, materials for radiation detection, sensor electronics, radiation detection physics, photon/particle transport codes \(e\.g\. MCNP, Attila, GEANT\) or other multi\-physics codes, signal processing methods, algorithm development for signature identification;+ Software development experience using Matlab, C, C\+\+ or other modern languages and tools;+ Demonstrated effective interpersonal communication abilities and demonstrated ability to present concepts and results in oral and written form;+ Active DOE Q and SCI clearance\.
