The System Administrator is designated as a key role in the administration and oversight of the back-end infrastructure for network, applications, back-up/recovery, and printing systems. Serves as one of the primary administrators for these systems, many of which are on the Windows platform; responsible for upgrades, maintenance, and troubleshooting; and engages in new technology research, testing, and implementation. Remote work access will be considered.
ESSENTIALDUTIESANDRESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned by proper personnel.
Installs, upgrades, and configures network printing, directory structures, rights, security, digital copyright monitoring, mobile devices, and software on their associated servers.
Provides academic administration support by installing, updating, configuring, tuning, diagnosing, and maintaining the health of our suite of cloud and on-premesis vendor products and services, including learning management system, eportfolio system, video conferencing system, assessment software, and file storage system.
Configures, maintains, and supports server-based network services, and computer systems and devices for administrative users.
Provides high-level problem resolution to University supported computers, printers, network, and server issues.
Responds to the needs and questions of users concerning their access of resources on the network.
Responsible for developing and recommending best practice solutions to Information Services leadership team regarding database security and back-up/disaster recovery systems and processes.
In conjunction with other staff, establishes all aspects of the user’s experience including creating and maintaining network users, user environment, directories, and security.
Collaborates with Information Services leadership team to ensure a quality end-user experience for all university technology services.
Provides general support coverage for network technical support.
Assists with other related/non-related projects, as required.
Serves as member of Information Services reporting directly to the Director, Technology Integration and Support. Serves on committees as deemed appropriate.
This job has no staff supervisory responsibilities. May supervise student workers to meet the needs of the department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
