GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: The Telecom Engineer/Network Analyst is responsible for day to day support and management of the telephone infrastructures at Framingham State University including the Avaya CM telephone system and Voice over IP environment, unified messaging, mobility requirements and local and long distance circuits. The Telecom Engineer/Network Analyst will install, test and repair telecommunications and information technology hardware, software and circuits. This candidate will provide routine maintenance, troubleshooting, monitoring, on both the voice and data network infrastructure. This candidate will work with individuals and departments to provide support and needs analysis of their telephone and messaging requirements. The Telecom Engineer/Network Analyst works in collaboration with others within and outside the division of Information Technology Services.

EXAMPLES OF SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide day to day support of Framingham State's Avaya PBX and Messaging platform, Unified Communications systems and Video Conferencing Tools.
Design, installation, maintenance, and support of voice/data services
Responsible for maintaining local and long distance connectivity with established carriers
Responsible for primary troubleshooting of telephony devices and network failures
Provides 1st /2nd level troubleshooting on campus data network
Supports systems and devices, software and firmware upgrades
Provides end user support for call coverage design and solutions
Provides installation and support for the emergency Code Blue phones
Works with vendors to support off-campus properties and locations
Oversees user account administration and access levels to telephony systems in accordance with University guidelines and industry best practice standards
Analyzes and implements security measures and procedures in compliance with University policies and applicable laws and regulations
Participates in development and documentation of overall policies and procedures related to the University telecom and data network systems
