Purpose of Role
This position plays a key role in the UK Institutional Client Facing Team as we seek to develop deep strategic relationships with our existing clients and look to grow our business. You will have responsibility for acting as the client's ambassador within SSGA and demonstrating strong stewardship and advocacy of the client requirements through the overall account management of UK Pensions clients (Defined Benefit and Defined Contribution).
You will be responsible for account management and support to our pension clients through responding to client and consultant queries and managing client onboarding, restructurings and ongoing client management.
Key point of contact and coordinator for Pension clients (DB and DC), their advisors and the business for client requests and queries
Partner with the Relationship Manager to engage with clients and their advisors and initiating, managing and implementing their investment on-boarding/restructuring requirements
Driving and hands-on co-ordination of the on-boarding process for new clients and restructuring activity of existing clients, which includes management of legal and fund documentation, account set-up, AML/KYC checks and transition planning and oversight through to execution
Overseeing the accuracy, timeliness of client reporting and billing through regular engagement with the client reporting and billing teams.
Ensure client issues are resolved in a timely manner and with minimum impact. This will often involve working cross functionally with a number of departments such as operations, legal, compliance, risk and product and influencing to meet the clients' needs.
Review and input to Investment Management Agreements and all other legal documentation in conjunction with the client contracting team
Co-ordinate all aspects of account opening/closing both with clients and internally (i.e. including explaining operational processes & SSGA policies to clients, validating client requirements and instructing the business, ensuring all systems are correctly set up)
Participate in projects affecting UK clients, including system enhancements, product and new policy/procedure developments
Obtain and record Know Your Client (KYC) documentation to support Anti-Money Laundering responsibilities
Develop relationships with internal stakeholders. Where a function has been delegated, liaise with internal departments or the dedicated relationship managers for the external outsourced party to ensure the client receives optimal service
Become subject matter expert for the respective client base covered. i.e. develop knowledge of local market, regulations and client type specific issues
Focus on continually improving the service offering to Pension clients (DB and DC)
Preparation and oversight of client presentations for the dedicated Relationship Manager
Attend and present at client meetings and due-diligence meetings. This may involve occasional travel.
A degree in a related discipline and an investment qualification (IMC full, CFA preferred)
Experience of client account management role/dealing with clients
Experience of client onboarding, restructuring and ongoing client management
Experience with Institutional pensions (DB and DC) clients
Has a good understanding of the asset management structure and various departments having worked at an asset/investment management firm with institutional and Pension fund clients
A good understanding of all major asset classes, and of different pooled and segregated investment structures
Sound experience in a similar account management role ideally with exposure to pension fund clients environment
Solid knowledge on the UK institutional fund management industry and the relevant legal structures and regulatory requirements
