The Enhanced Neuroimaging Core serves the Harvard Medical School and Medical School Affiliates. We are a fee-for-service core that provides access to advanced optical microscopy services. Comprehensive training in data acquisition and image analysis are offered as customized services to new and established users throughout the NeuroDiscovery community.
Our facility has an opening for an Optical Imaging Tech to work closely with two senior Imaging Specialists in a state-of-the-art imaging facility. The Imaging Technician is responsible for supporting a diverse community of researchers in applying a range of advanced microscopy techniques.
This individual will maintain scientific instruments in top working order, perform as-needed minor repairs, troubleshoot problems with both the microscope and users' specimens. Will collaborate with researchers to customize the microscopes and software to meet advanced users' needs and to allow novel imaging experiments to be performed. Will train graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and other researchers who are new to microscopy but wish to perform advanced imaging techniques. Will maintain database of standard operating procedures to facilitate future trainings. Maintain computer systems to ensure stability and ease of use. And is responsible for routine administrative duties such as ordering and monthly invoicing.

Minimum of 2 years of work experience in research or lab environment, including experience with microscopes (must be visible on resume or cover letter). Relevant coursework may count toward some, though not all, work experience.
Bachelor's Degree preferred. The successful candidate will have strong organizational, communication and administrative skills required to be a contributing member of a small imaging facility team. The candidate will assist and collaborate with multidisciplinary groups of technology innovators in a dynamic team environment. Exceptional multi-tasking abilities, problem solving skills and patience. The successful candidate will have the ability to learn new microscopy systems with ease. Basic computer skills required.
