Kirkwood Community College seeks a skilled and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Welding Technology Instructor. The successful candidate will have a strong knowledge base in Welding theory to include SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, FCAW, structural steel, aluminum, stainless steel and pipe welding. Successful candidate should also have the ability to teach college level technical math, blueprint reading and weld symbols. Teaching experience at the college level is desirable. Primary duties will include instructing students and communicating with department staff, students, and other faculty.
Teaching occurs mornings, afternoons and/or evenings and is comprised of face-to-face lecture, online learning, and hands-on laboratory activities. Related work includes being accessible to advise current and potential students, serving on college committees, developing curriculum, evaluating and reporting student performance in compliance with college policies and procedures, assisting in the development and implementation of college initiatives, and promoting industrial technology programs to business and industry.
Provide instruction including labs.
Work with other faculty members to develop a course syllabus and consistent assessments.
Communicate with department staff, students, and faculty on a regular basis.
Perform other related work duties as assigned.
Design industrial curriculum.
Associate of Applied Science Degree plus 3 years of relevant work experience is required or bona fide DOL registered 4-year journey card in related discipline. Must have a CWI / CWE AWS credential or be able to obtain one within the first year of employment.
Additional Salary Information: Pay commensurate with education and experience.
