The Children’s Advocacy Center of North & Northwest Cook County (CAC) is on the rise and seeking a Development Communications Coordinator to ensure clarity, consistency and effectiveness of all development and agency communications in line with CAC’s best practices and priorities.
Reporting to and working closely with the Director of Development, Fund Development Committee and Board of Directors, the Development Communications Coordinator is responsible for producing strong content and messaging in a wide range of formats, including print, email and social media, ensuring all accurately reflect the messaging of the CAC and its programs.
In addition, the successful candidate will craft, implement and execute strategic development communications for CAC’s annual fund campaigns, social media and web strategy, campaign exposure, cultivation and stewardship programs, plus event-specific fundraising efforts. External presentations to corporations and community groups are also required.
Work with Director of Development to develop and implement an annual strategic marketing and communications plan for CAC to span across all applicable marketing and communication channels in order to reach appropriate target audiences.
Work closely with contractors to design and produce printed and online communication material used in internal and external marketing initiatives.
Lead volunteer Marketing and Communications Committee.
Manage creation, distribution and maintenance of all print and electronic materials.
Events and Campaigns
Assist with planning and implementation of all CAC events.
Plan and execute marketing timelines for each event.
Create and print collateral for events, including the Hope, Heal. Grow Gala; Champions for Children 5K Walk; CAC Golf Outing and Casino Night.
Develop print and online material to support fundraising campaigns. Ensure all materials are developed and distributed according to a planned timeline.
Manage online fundraising platform to support campaign, event and general giving.
Communications and Public Affairs
Manage media projects, including press releases and announcements.
Plan and manage external communication efforts, including publicity for events, program information and more.
Maintain all online communication vehicles, including emails (i.e. Constant Contact) and social media (Facebook, Twitter, Linked In, etc.
Monitor and catalog all media coverage of CAC activities across print, broadcast, and social media outlets.
Coordinate with agency staff to ensure consistency in all organizational communications.
Staff liaison for CAC volunteer ancillary group.
Identify media opportunities.
Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree; 3 years of proven, successful experience in persuasive writing for publications or corporate communications; Proven ability to conduct research and interviews; Significant experience drafting reports. Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects and priorities; Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines; Proven ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with colleagues and senior officials.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with web content management; Experience in proposal research, fundraising and writing; Fundraising campaign writing experience, including the ability to construct compelling copy for both print and web communications; experience working with non-profits, specifically in development.
