The Director of Infrastructure is a senior level technical leadership position in Computing Services and Systems Development (CSSD) that reports to the CIO at the University of Pittsburgh. This senior leadership position is responsible for engineering and operations of the University's data and voice communications network and enterprise systems. This position will manage the teams responsible for development of new systems, upgrades and enhancements to existing systems, disaster recovery, enterprise server administration as well as design and administration of the data and voice communications network. This position is also responsible for ensuring the stability and security of the University's off-campus Network Operations Center (NOC) at RIDC Park.
This position must collaborate closely with the Enterprise Architects, other IT Directors and administrators from other University departments to thoroughly understand operational requirements for enterprise systems and the data and voice communications network and to ensure system designs meet the strategic goals of the organization. The incumbent will create policies, plans and compile budget requirements to meet established needs. This position will evaluate vendor offerings to determine applicability.
Candidate must possess a Bachelor's degree in CS, Engineering or a related field, and have at least 10 year's experience in networking, telecommunications and enterprise systems administration. The successful candidate must have a minimum of eight years management experience, possess excellent leadership skills and have a demonstrated track record of achieving stated goals. Excellent professional communication and interpersonal skills are required.
Experience in higher education, customer service and project management is recommended but not required.

Degree in CS, Engineering, or related field or the equivalent in experience. Master's degree preferred. A minimum of eight years in a key leadership position in information technology, networks, and/or data and voice access services.
Extensive background and experience with complex system administration and network design, implementation, and management is required. A thorough understanding of voice communications is also necessary. Demonstrated ability to manage projects, people, time and budgets.
