Job Posting: Principal of Sacred Heart of Jesus School
Location: Boulder, CO
Sacred Heart of Jesus School (SHJS) in Boulder, Colorado, is seeking a principal for our PreK-through-8th grade school. SHJS promises to develop the entire student – body, mind, and spirit. We are looking for a principal who will provide strategic and operational leadership by establishing a multi-year strategic plan, leveraging existing marketing and recruitment efforts to drive enrollment, improving communications throughout the community, and leading new initiatives as needed.
Our school’s primary aim is to get our students to Heaven. Our principal will help our students form a strong relationship with Jesus that will lay the foundation for a lifetime of leadership in the Church and in the world.
Succeeding in the competitive Boulder market for schools means that we must provide a top-notch education. Our parents trust the school to deliver educational outcomes, and the principal bears ultimate responsibility for that. Towards this end, our principal will have a strong foundation in instructional and pedagogical best practices. Our principal will attract and hire teachers and support their development.
Beyond the classroom, our school offers a range of activities. SHJS students build on their classroom learning through extracurriculars including chess club, drama, sports, and Archdiocesan events, including Academic Decathlon and Spelling Bee. Our principal will support these efforts to strengthen our students’ skills leadership capabilities.
Teachers, staff, parents, students, parishioners, and foundation donors contribute to the success of SHJS. Our principal will develop valuable relationships within the community that supports our school. Our principal will seek to understand the unique gifts that God has given of each group and identify ways to leverage them to deliver on God’s unique vision for our school.
Developing inclusive environments that honor and support diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and abilities will enable our principal to build a strong community with our families and students. We host international students regularly, and because our Hispanic population is growing, verbal and written proficiency in Spanish is desirable.
Above all, our principal must exhibit leadership that empowers and inspires our students and broader community. We value transparency and proactive communication – in written, conversational, and presentation-type settings. A willingness to ask questions, listen, and consider different points of view will enable our principal to present his or her decisions in a manner that generates momentum. Someone who recognizes the accomplishments of others and shares credit will strengthen the trust across multiple groups.
Our principal will possess a mindset focused on personal growth. Seeking out feedback on personal performance and an ongoing commitment to professional development sets an example for every member of our community. This demonstration of humility and openness recalls the leadership style of Jesus.
