The Director is responsible for the financial management, supervision and leadership of service line operations, development of policies, procedures, quality improvement initiatives and staffing. Works collaboratively with interdisciplinary staff both internal and external to the organization. Communicates by developing a caring and compassionate process whereby patient advocacy is emphasized. The Director is responsible and accountable for all aspects of care in the service line on a 24 hour basis in collaboration with Medical and Director of Administration.
Ensures provision of quality nursing care on a twenty-four hour basis in the emergency room.
Functions as ER nurse during critical staffing or high census times.
Participates in operational planning for areas of responsibility develops staffing plans and duty assignments to ensure effective and efficient work flow.
Develop and implement processes that support dash in hand provision of patient-centered evidence based regulatory-compliant nursing practice.
Serves as a mentor to supervisory and management staff.
Actively supports and participates in relationship-based care including support of shared governance.
Builds and sustains trusting relationships, resolves conflict, negotiates effectively, and develops collaborative relationships within the hospital and the community.
Oversees and ensures department quality and safety initiatives are achieved in collaboration with staff and medical director.
Establishes, implements and maintains up to date policies and procedures to achieve effective and efficient department services as well as apply with regulatory and accreditation standards.
Collaborates with other departments to ensure safe effective patient care.
Develops and maintains a QI program to meet CMS and Joint Commission requirements.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing with current licensure in Missouri as a Registered Professional Nurse.
BLS certification within 3 months of hire. ACLS required within 12 months of hire. TNS required within 1 year of hire. PALS within 1 year of hire. CPI training within 6 months of hire. Proficient in use of EHR within 90 days of hire.
2-5 years experience in a leadership role, including 2 years recent acute care experience in an Emergency Department or critical care.
BSN or Bachelor's degree in health related field
