A DHTS Network Analyst II within Duke Health Technology Solutions (DHTS) Infrastructure Services-Network Services is responsible for the design, implementation, configuration, testing and support of the Duke Medicine enterprise route, switching, firewalls, VPN (IPSEC and SSL) and telecommunication circuits and WAN infrastructure. This includes expert level knowledge of L1/L2/L3/L4 network technologies, Cisco Routers, Switches, ASA firewalls, VoIP/Video technologies such as Quality of Service (QOS), telecommunication circuits, MPLS, OSPF and wireless technologies. The network infrastructure consists of BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, hundreds of VLANs, Unified wireless, NAC, VoIP, IPSEC/SSL VPN, DNS/DHCP, 10Gig mesh, Cisco ASA, Nexus routers, and dozens more network technologies. This position will work closely with the Network Services team to provide for the most stable and reliable firewall and remote access network infrastructure possible, one that is considered to be "medical grade". The DHTS Network Analyst will work within the Network Services team to ensure availability and service delivery for all remote Duke Medicine facilities, including the management of all telecommunications circuits. A key objective is to configure, optimize, document, support, provide reporting metrics, and develop procedures to support the Duke Medicine firewalls and remote network infrastructure via efficient engineering design and troubleshooting with various tools, processes, and technologies.
This is expected to be a Level 2 position.
Participate in 24x7x365 monitoring and support for all network services (wired, wireless, VoIP, NAC, etc)
Implement, configure, maintain and report on the telecommunication services supporting the Duke Medicine MAN and WAN. The candidate must have production experience in the entire lifecycle of enterprise firewalls/VPN and telecommunications circuit management.
Maintain and sustain Duke Medicine network infrastructure (wired, wireless, network systems) based on the Duke Medicine Network Roadmap.
Maintain data, voice and firewall network hardware and systems; investigate and resolve network and hardware matters of significance; research, analyze, isolate and resolve errors; assess and update older network infrastructure and circuits as needed and in accordance with specified plans.
Provide technical support on data, voice or video networks for internal and/or external customers; answers technical questions; recommend and implement approved course of action. Provide technical leadership for data or voice network problem escalation and resolution.
Develop and maintain processes, procedures and metrics consistent with industry best practices and service level agreements to ensure 100% network service availability
Seek opportunities to enhance organizational operational cohesiveness with all members of the division and DHTS.
Maintain documentation and procedures to ensure adherence to institutional, state and federal policies and regulations.
Ensure security of technology solutions implemented and supported.
Author, implement, execute, and periodically update System Security, Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Plans to be consistent with Duke Medicine policies and standards regarding security and HIPAA compliance.
Design, implement, maintain, upgrade, and patch systems to be compliant with Duke Medicine security policies and standards regarding protection from external and internal security attacks.
Administer, validate, and review user and system accounts, access controls, audit logs and system integrity to maximize system security and data confidentiality.
Research and remediate generic and system-specific vulnerabilities.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

BA or BS degree
Minimum of 3 years operational experience in the areas of:
Cisco Networking and IP routing (MPLS, BGP, OSPF, STP, EIGRP)
Extensive knowledge (subject matter expert) skill set of networking/voice/video/security technologies and services
Advanced knowledge and configuration / administration of network systems and management tools including: CA Spectrum, Bluecat, Cacti and various OpenSourceTools, Cisco WCS/NCS, etc.
Extensive knowledge of core Cisco products and technologies(Nexus/MPLS), in addition, VPN, STP, IPSEC, CBWFQ, SRST
Extensive hands on experience setting up IP networks to guarantee highly available and robust networking (including automatic failover and notification, traffic analysis, QoS and policy based routing)
Extensive knowledge of DNS, DHCP and IP protocols, BlueCat
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks, performed by a diverse group of professionals
Specific experience administering Linux Operating Systems & basic scripting (TCL, Perl, etc) Experience preferred: Specific experience in large campus/healthcare Cisco networks, supporting/designing/implementing IP solutions. Healthcare provider and patient care/clinical applications/systems experience
