In the Preschool Program we provide high quality, full-day early learning experiences utilizing the Creative Curriculum and Teaching Strategies GOLD. We are a CPS Community Partnership Site, and the program has achieved and maintained NAEYC accreditation and a Gold Circle of Quality from ExceleRate Illinois. Our low student to teacher ratio allows us to provide more individualized care, and our Family Support specialists provide additional support to teachers, families, and children. Job Description Summary
The Teacher Assistant works cooperatively with the Teacher to plan and implement the daily education program for the children. With the support and guidance of Lead Teacher, the Teacher Assistant will ensure that the classroom activities and environment are developmentally appropriate and reflect the agency’s philosophy and curriculum. The Teacher Assistant plans and implements a program designed for the emotional, social, educational and physical development of assigned children; under the direction of the Child Development Supervisor, and Child Development Director. The Teacher Assistant ensures that the individual needs of the children are met as mandated by state and local standards.
Associate’s degree (A.A.) in Early Childhood Education (ECE), Child Development (CD), or equivalent of an Associate’s degree with a minimum of 15 credits in ECE or CD, required.
Two (2) years of prior teaching experience in relevant preschool setting, preferred.
Communication skills; able to establish a patient respectful, trustworthy relationship with children and their families.
Knowledge of Teaching Strategies Gold, Creative Curriculum and Teaching Strategies Gold online.
Knowledge of NAEYC standards and classroom portfolios.
Positive guidance classroom management style. Ability to work well with others and model professionalism in the classroom.
