Summary: Aspen Academy prepares students to enter, succeed, and graduate from outstanding high schools. Domain Areas of Expertise include: Fitness
Provide vision for the domain area of expertise and advocate for its implementation and execution.
Develop innovative units of study for domain area of expertise that incorporate the academic standards and scope & sequence provided in the domain area portfolio.
Champion domain area appreciation among all Aspen Academy students, faculty, and programs.
Provide coaching for integration of domain area ion core subject’s units of study.
Oversee/contribute the AMP’d program.
Contribute to any Essentials department communications - newsletter, website, marketing materials, etc.
The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Teach assigned classes in the specified domain area of expertise: Fitness
Exhibit mastery and enthusiasm for the assigned area of expertise and classes;
Plan and implement an appropriately focused and balanced curriculum for each student which adheres to the school's curriculum and standards.
Prepare and develop activities, materials and lessons to meet the learning objectives (skills and content) of the curriculum and standards.
Develop and maintain a well-managed classroom where 100% of the students are engaged, consistently challenged, and supported. Classroom policies should be consistent with school policies.
Integrate technology into daily classroom teaching and student learning.
Decorate classrooms appropriately and to keep it clean, neat and presentable.
Engage families in their children's education and to communicate regularly and effectively with students and families.
Effectively utilize best practices in Teaching with Love & Logic and Inquiry Based Learning.
Curriculum and Assessment:
Assist in the on-going development of the school’s curriculum and core performance standards.
Submit an annual Unit Pacing Plan to your Director
Provide monthly Units of Study for review by the Director of Programs. Submit test/quiz/project assignments, homework, graded student samples and grade book for review by the administration when requested.
Use assessment data to refine curriculum and instructional practices to help meet the school's performance standards and expectations
Inform colleagues and Director of Programs of any academic, behavioral, or personal difficulties that arises with students.
Reinforce the school’s core values and policies inside and outside of the classroom.
