Library Technician: Night and Weekend Supervisor (OAK) California College of the Arts
The Library Technician: Night and Weekend Supervisor provides physical and intellectual access to the library collections in Meyer Library, on the Oakland campus. They act as the night and weekend library supervisor and assist with materials processing. This Technician works closely with the Public Services Manager in Oakland. Regular hours during the academic year are Sunday 2-10 pm, Monday-Thursday 3pm-11pm. Summer and intersession hours are Monday-Friday 9-5. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: % of time Responsibilities for this position change throughout the year. While classes are in session, work responsibilities are as listed below. During semester breaks and summer, the percentages are flipped, meaning that 70% of time is spent on processing and other projects.
70% Circulation Desk Coverage; Night and Weekend Supervisor ● Handles circulation transactions for library materials, following set circulation policies and procedures. ● Inputs data to the automated circulation system, including patron registration and item record editing. ● Answers basic informational and directional questions by telephone and in-person. ● Supervises reading room and stack areas during evening hours. ● Closes and prepares the library for the next working day. ● Supervises work-study students working evening hours. ● Works with Facilities and Public Safety to maintain library security and safety of patrons. ● May require shifts in the San Francisco library during staffing shortages or for special projects
25% New Acquisitions Processing ● Processes materials as needed ● Trains and supervises student workers to physically process materials ● Produces spine labels for processing using Koha ILS
5% Other project-based duties as assigned
