Advertised Summary Job Description: Reporting to the Director, Marketing, Communications & Pipeline Management, Columbia College Fund, the Data Analyst provides routine ad hoc reports and data analyses for all units within Columbia College's Office of Alumni Affairs and Development. The Data Analyst works with College Fund leadership to develop fundraising projections.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
A.Data and reporting: Tracks status of giving to the Annual and Parents Funds and provides prospect managers with reports on their giving pipeline. Responsible for other ad hoc reporting on gifts and pledges to assist fundraising efforts using PL/SQL Developer on Oracle, Crystal Reports for design and deployment of reports, and Microsoft Excel. Works with staff from all CCAAD units to create reports as needed and to establish regular reporting schedules; generates periodic donor demographic reports on endowments and current-use gifts for fundraising staff review and modification; supplies data for donor recognition and stewardship. Assists College Planning & Administration in annual reconciliation efforts.
B.Analysis: Develops models and reports on College giving and alumni engagement to support short- and long-term planning, including giving trend analyses and the identification of new donors and/or those with increased giving potential.
C.System/database documentation: Writes and maintains documentation for SQL reports. Prepares documentation on criteria used to generate data for the College Annual Fund Report.
D.Performs all other related duties as assigned.
General Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and/or its equivalent required.

Additional Specific Minimum Qualifications: Proficiency in SQL and advanced query writing, database management and report development experience using database tools such as Crystal Reports, MS Access and SQL Advantage required. Experience working with large data sets required. Must have strong computer and Microsoft office skills with proficiency for spreadsheets and relational database management. Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a customer service orientation required. Must be a self-starter who has the ability to function both independently with minimal supervision and as a member of a team-based office. Ability to handle confidential information with exceptional judgment and discretion necessary. Strong quantitative and analytical skills required.
Preferred Qualifications: Major in Statistics or other quantitative field preferred. Knowledge of regression and other linear modelling preferred. Familiarity with statistical software such as R preferred.
