Student Account Representative California College of the Arts The Student Accounts Representative is the first point of contact for assisting students with their tuition, housing and financial aid transactions. The ideal candidate thrive with college student interaction and has a strong aptitude in working with numbers. The Student Account Representative performs a variety of accounts receivable functions related to student tuition and non-tuition accounts. Participates in a variety of college-wide events such as orientation and registration and provides support for the Oakland campus Student Accounts Office as needed. This is a full-time job, Monday to Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
REPORTS TO: Student Accounts Manager
DEPARTMENT: Business Office
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: Provides first point-of-contact for students regarding their tuition and fees. Responds to student inquiries in person, phone and in email. Assists students with tracking, analysis and understanding of financial transaction for class registration, adding, dropping and withdrawals of courses. Assists students with tracking, analysis and understanding of financial aid package; credits and adjustments of financial aid to their student account. Creates payment plans for tuition and fees on current and delinquent accounts. Receives and posts cash, checks, wire and credit card payments; reconciles and prepares batches for bank deposits. Analyzes student account activity and financial aid disbursements for student refund preparation. Prepares monthly student billings. Prepares and updates communications from student accounts office. Assists students with Perkins loan promissory note signing. Assists Student Accounts Manager in collection duties. Participates in the training and overseeing of work-study students. Performs additional duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 1-2 years of accounts receivable experience; higher education a plus. 1-2 years of experience with heavy customer service; must have at least 1 years experience with face-to-face customer interactions. 1-2 years of data entry and ten-key adding machine by touch. Must be able to work effectively with a diverse student body, staff and faculty. Must be team oriented with a strong customer service orientation coupled with strong collaboration and communication skills. Must have excellent problem-solving skills. Must be an eager learner, extremely detail-oriented, accurate, organized, able to work exceptionally well under deadline pressure and with time sensitive projects, and be able to manage multiple priorities. Must be able to work and follow-up independently; ability to follow and maintain process and policy surrounding sensitive and confidential information is a must. 1-2 years experience with MS Word and Excel; 1-2 years experience using and supporting Datatel Colleague or similar ERP software preferred. Ability to apply technological innovations to Business Office operations preferred.
