The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Iowa State University (www.me.iastate.edu) invites applications for Lecturer or Senior Lecturer with an emphasis in the area of engineering mechanics, dynamics and related topics. Lecturers / Senior Lecturers serve the department's educational mission through instruction, laboratory development, design project supervision and curriculum innovation. Applicants are sought who have a solid background in engineering practice as well as substantial industry experience. This lecturer will teach a combination of mechanical engineering and engineering mechanics courses based on instructional needs as well as the interests and expertise of the individual. The person hired for this position will also work with a team of faculty to assess the results of instructional approaches and curricular development in such courses.

Required Education and Experience:
A B.S. degree in mechanical engineering or closely related field, and a demonstrated potential to excel in teaching. Additionally, the applicant must have EITHER: 1) an M.S. or M.Eng. degree in mechanical engineering or a closely related field (or an MBA) and a minimum of 4 years of relevant industry experience; OR if no graduate degree is held: 2) a minimum of six years of relevant experience as an engineering professional in government, industry or academia.
In addition to the above qualifications, for consideration as a Senior Lecturer, applicants must: 1) have a PhD (with or without Masters degree) and 4 years of relevant industry experience; or 2) a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience as an engineering professional in government, industry or academia.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Active-status Professional Engineering (P.E.) licensure; Additional years of relevant industrial and/or entrepreneurial experience; Additional years of teaching or training experience; A record of contribution to scholarly journals or industry technical publications
