The Engagement Department of the UMAA engages alumni, students and friends of the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities campus through a wide variety of virtual and physical programs and services that are relevant to the alumni and meaningful to the University. These include alumni engagement based on common geography or special interest, legislative advocacy, travel programs, student support and more.
The UMAA seeks a dynamic, goal-oriented, creative professional to develop and implement strategies that engage increasing numbers of alumni in Minnesota. This position serves as the primary liaison for the Minnesota alumni networks which will include working with the Advocacy Director to strengthen alumni legislative advocacy for the University. This person is a key member of the Engagement team and will continue to grow and manage UMAA geo-based and affinity groups. This position supports UMAA goals and objectives by working directly with staff and volunteers to plan, budget, implement, and evaluate high-impact programs and services.
Alumni Engagement Strategy and Execution
Develop and implement strategies to engage an increased number of alumni in Minnesota in ways that are relevant and meaningful to alumni and the University.
Use both virtual and physical programs and services to engage more alumni with each other and the University.
Assess the wants and needs of the alumni in +6 defined geographic areas and work with staff, campus partners, and volunteers to deliver programs and services that meet those needs.
Serve as the primary liaison and consultant to alumni all network volunteers/boards/interest groups in Minnesota.
Define best practices and train and develop Minnesota network volunteers to ensure the policies and practices are followed.
Serve as the primary liaison and consultant to UMAA affinity groups including the Greek and Band Alumni Networks as well as all other existing or yet to be created affinity networks.
Work with Director of Alumni Advocacy to identify and recruit volunteer advocacy leaders in key legislative districts across the state of Minnesota.
Act as staff lead in planning and implementing multiple events for up to 300 guests
Partner with strategic campus offices (athletics, admissions, University Relations, extension, etc.) to coordinate and enhance engagement throughout the state via lifelong learning, events and athletics.
Work with other Alumni Association staff to manage rosters, capture event data and survey information as well as track and monitor the number of alumni engaging in activities.
Assess alumni associated services on an ongoing basis to ensure the UMAA is providing the best possible resources to Minnesota area volunteers.
Serve as a secondary liaison for the geographic council of the UMAA Board of Directors.
Analyze market research and recommend programmatic changes based on research.
General Engagement and Department Activities (10% of job)
Manage engagement projects as assigned.
Conduct thorough annual program evaluations and adjust programs based on the evaluations and the organizational goal to continuously improve.
Represent UMAA on appropriate committees and/or organizations as assigned.
Support UMAA signature events.
Complete or help with other department duties as assigned.

Salary Range: $44,000-$57,000
Bachelor degree in an applicable major.
Able to drive to in-state meetings and events in either University motor pool vehicle or personal vehicle (mileage reimbursed).
At least three years of experience developing, managing and evaluating programs.
