Winter Coaching Opportunity
Head JV Boys Basketball Coach
Lakeside School, an independent coeducational day school located in North Seattle, is currently recruiting for a head JV boys basketball coach for the winter 2017-2018 season. The season begins Monday, November 13 and concludes at the latest on Saturday, March 3, 2018. A required preseason coaches meeting will be held Monday, October 23, 3:30 – 7:00 PM.
The head JV boys basketball coach, reporting to the boys basketball program head, joins an athletics program that includes 23 varsity teams, most of which have both sub-varsity and middle-school counterparts. The boys basketball program includes three teams at the Upper School and at least one team at every grade level at the Middle School. The head JV boys basketball coach will be responsible for coaching duties with the JV team, as well as other program-wide duties as assigned by the boys basketball program head. Specific responsibilities include:
- Compliance with all Lakeside School, Metro League, and WIAA policies and procedures;
- Supervision and instruction of boys basketball student-athletes during all team activities;
- Maintenance and inventory of team equipment and apparel;
- Attendance at required boys basketball program and interscholastic athletics program meetings;
- Support of multi-sport participation for student-athletes; and
- Promotion of balanced achievement in all areas of school life for student-athletes.
Requirements and Qualifications
Successful candidates must be 19 years of age, possess a valid Washington State driver’s license, and be available for all practices and competitions from 3:00 p.m. daily during their coaching season with availability on weekends as required. Experience coaching basketball at the club, middle school, high school or college level is required. Additionally, candidates must satisfactorily complete a nationwide criminal background check, a Washington State Patrol background check and must possess or obtain prior to the start of their season current First Aid and CPR certification.
