Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Staff Nurse for the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Services at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Reports to the Nurse Manager.
In collaboration with physicians, nursing staff, and other members of the healthcare team, oversees, coordinates and provides focused, episodic care to RWJMG OB/GYN patients. This care encompasses health promotion, health maintenance or management of health-related problems that is delivered in face-to-face or telephone encounters. Additional responsibilities include: delegation, direction and coordination of the activities of RWJMG LPNs and non-nursing clinical staff to meet the needs of RWJMG OB/GYN patients. Utilizes the nursing process to systematically assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and document a plan of care individualized for a specific clinical operations patient, group, or population in face-to-face and telephone encounters.
Engages in ongoing performance improvement activities to enhance the quality and effectiveness of one's clinical and professional nursing practice, and that of the clinical operations organizational system.
Engages in continuing education to attain knowledge and competency that reflects the current state of ambulatory care nursing practice and will enable the Staff Nurse – Adult Populations to contribute to the fulfillment of the clinical operations mission as it relates to the delivery of quality healthcare.
Actively engages in clinical operations organizational initiatives that create and maintain an internal environment that is safe, hazard-free, confidential, and comfortable for patients, family members/caregivers, and staff.
Optimizes use of time by efficiently using tools, resources, systems, and prioritization to manage and direct patient access and flow for effective and efficient clinical operations.
Engages in evaluation of one's own nursing practice and those of other clinical staff in relation to professional practice standards and guidelines, relevant statutes, rule, regulations, and the RWJMG organizational job description; appropriately delegates, and directs clinical tasks assigned to the clinical operations, LPNs and unlicensed assistive personnel.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications: Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) preferred.
Completion of medical interpreter training course preferred.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to function in a team environment is required.
Basic word processing and computer skills are required.

Special Conditions: Able to travel to provided coverage at RWJMG “off-site” practices as needed.
