We are seeking a commercially minded and dynamic Workplace Health Safety & Environment (WHSE) professional. Macquarie Capital has principal interests in non-financial assets globally which create operational, legal, reputational and ethical workplace health, safety and environmental responsibilities for Macquarie in those assets. Macquarie Capital recognises the importance and value of WHSE, and is looking for an experienced individual to embed it across our business and assets globally.
Your key responsibilities will include:
review, enhance and maintain Macquarie Capital's WHSE framework
develop a comprehensive and global WHSE education program for asset managers and nominee directors, leveraging external firms and expertise
develop a Macquarie Capital WHSE Centre of Expertise, and work closely with deal teams to provide expert advice on WHSE matters for new transactions and ongoing asset management
establish appropriate business forums at the industry, regional or global level as appropriate, to share WHSE related learnings
establish and maintain relationships with external legal and technical firms that provide WHSE related advice and services
define scope of external WHSE due-diligence engagements and assist deal teams with reviewing the results and translating recommendations into action plans
work with asset managers and the management of non-financial assets to implement WHSE action plans where appropriate
establish WHSE Key Performance Indicators, and related reporting and monitoring processes
maintain Macquarie Capital's WHSE risk assessment including review of asset and industry data, analysis of trends and developing actions for continuous improvement
stay up to date on key global and regulatory developments regarding WHSE and strive to ensure that Macquarie Capital is keeping pace with requirements and best practice
co-ordinate Macquarie Capital WHSE reporting for the Board
To be successful in this role, you will:
possess a minimum of 10 years experience as a WHS&E professional in either an internal or external advisory capacity or as part of a broader operations role, with exposure to infrastructure/renewables/resources
hold appropriate tertiary qualifications in WHSE or related discipline (i.e. engineering)
demonstrate strong strategic, technical and multi-national WHS&E expertise supported by appropriate tertiary qualifications.
possess a proven ability to succeed in a complex stakeholder environment, with strong relationship building and influencing skills and the ability to drive change
asset management and Board experience will be highly regarded
This is a global role, reporting directly to the Head of Macquarie Capital Principal in Sydney. The role will be based in either London or Asia with a significant amount of domestic and/or international travel as required.
