The Department of Experiential Engineering Education (ExEEd) in the Henry M. Rowan College of Engineering invites applications for a part-time instructor position. Successful candidates will have a strong interest in teaching courses in the first and second year of the engineering curriculum and will join a team that shares responsibilities for the Freshman and Sophomore Engineering Clinic courses. The Engineering Clinic Sequence is the hallmark of Rowan’s innovative undergraduate engineering program and features multidisciplinary, hands-on, project-oriented courses. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of innovative projects and pedagogies in an environment where excellence in teaching is needed and valued, and to engage in scholarly activity that impacts teaching practice in engineering. The successful candidate must be committed to working with students from diverse backgrounds including women, students of color, LGBTQ students, first-generation to college students, students with disabilities, students with low socioeconomic status, and veterans.
Applicants must have earned a Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering discipline and at least a Master of Science degree, preferably a Ph.D., in an Engineering discipline, Engineering Education or STEM Education. Industrial or other professional experience, while not required, would be very valuable. In addition, the successful candidate is expected to demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to teach in a hands-on, project and problem-based learning environment.
