Our Facilities Services Building Maintenance department has an outstanding opportunity for Maintenance Mechanic II (MMII) position. This individuals will perform skilled work in the operation, maintenance, repair, and construction of all campus building and residential facilities and equipment.
Perform general and preventative maintenance and repairs on all types of plumbing fixtures, lighting fixtures, floors, windows, doors, countertops, cabinetry, and kitchen appliances in the residential facilities. Tasks assignments may require work in tight or confined spaces, such as working under or in cabinets.
Perform alterations, adjustment, modification, repair and installation of mechanical and plumbing systems in campus buildings, including classrooms and office spaces, which may include installation of whiteboards, shelving, and minor wall repair and patching and painting.
Perform general maintenance and repair as scheduled to prepare residential apartments for occupancy.
Operate hand and power tools in a skilled manner.
Coordinate all work orders assigned with campus staff, faculty, and students to meet their needs.
Drive state vehicles as required. Load and unload materials and supplies.
May lead or instruct helpers or other maintenance workers as required.
Use a computerized work order system.
Adhere to safety rules, regulations and precautions. May be required to be test fitted and wear all appropriate personnel protective equipment (PPE).
Perform related duties as required.
| Completion of a recognized apprenticeship as a journey worker, OR full-journey status in a union; OR four years' applicable work experience. Vocational training may be substituted for work experience on a year-for-year basis. Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's license may be required. |

Work involves driving, walking, talking, hearing, using hands to handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.

|CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT:|
| Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's license, able to drive service vehicles as required, load and unload materials and supplies. Must be able to lift 50 pounds. |
The position will require the physical attributes of: standing, sitting or keyboarding for extended periods; ladder climbing, lifting, stooping, reaching overhead, grasping hand tools; ability to operate a motor vehicle, etc.
The position will require the mental attributes of: compose and edit technical material; perform basic math; read and verify numbers; observe and read gauges and dials; use and read measuring devises; perform multiple tasks.
The position will require the employee to work in places other than an office environment. The employee can expect to work in areas of unusual heights; being around moving machinery; exposure to extreme heat/cold; possible exposure to dust, fumes, gases, irritating substances, etc.; exposure to excessive noises; exposure to radiant or electrical energy; working below ground; isolated work site.
