Carry out experiments and provide logistical support for research project.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Design and/or execute experiments for research project.
Executing experimental methods; data collection and interpretation.
Assisting principal investigator and students with experiments
Maintaining clear, detailed digital laboratory notebooks with experimental details
Presenting experimental data in clear, concise format to principal investigator.2. Laboratory support
Preparation of stock solutions.
Ordering of reagents and laboratory supplies
Maintenance of lab equipment
Maintenance of databases
Maintaining lab in general state of cleanliness and order.3. Other duties as assigned.GENERAL GUIDELINES1. Recommends initiatives and implements changes to improve quality and services.
2. Identifies and determines cause of problems; develops and presents recommendations for improvement of established processes and practices.
3. Maximizes productivity through use of appropriate tools; planned training and performance initiatives.
4. Researches and develops resources that create timely and efficient workflow.
5. Prepares progress reports; informs supervisor of project status; and deviation from goals. Ensures completeness, accuracy and timeliness of all operational functions.
6. Prepares and submits reports as requested and required.
Provides Work Direction:
May provide some direction to student workers and help them buy reagents.

Typical laboratory environment.
Mostly indoor office environment with windows.
Laboratory with equipment noise, volatile chemicals and flammables.
Laboratory with frequent interruptions.
Knowledge of Windows and Mac OS platforms.
Prepare biological reagents.
Maintain laboratory notebooks.
DNA and RNA isolation.
DNA sequence analysis.
Next-Gen data assembly and analysis.
Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgement.
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor of Science in biochemistry, molecular genetics or evolutionary biology.
0 3 years of research experience.
