Provides patient centered care in the Emergency Department under the supervision of the Registered Nurse. Maintains supplies in the patient rooms as well as the department. Acts as a patient transporter for appropriate patients. Performs unit secretary duties when necessary. Assist in maintaining patient flow in collaboration with the charge nurse. The ED tech displays positive support for the mission and values of RMC. Provides care to all age groups: neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric. Perform Lab testing as assigned based on protocol of each test, documenting results and communicating criticals as defined. Complete competency as required. Follow lab testing safety guidelines, maintenance and QC completion/documentation, and proficiency testing as assigned. Follow "good lab practice" in testing and initiate corrective action as issues occur with test system or result. Educational records (diploma or transcript) are mandatory for staff performing non-waived testing.
Licensure/Certification/Registration: Current Colorado EMT-B (basic)
Education: Colorado EMT-B (Basic) Documented completion of education requirement may be through national exam or certificate from accredited program. Current American Heart Association BLS Healthcare Provider Card (Required) IV Certification (Required)
Experience: 1-2 years required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Stocks and maintains equipment and supplies. Performs delegated interventions and procedures accurately and safely within the standards of practice. Demonstrates good organizational skills. Displays appropriate judgment and problem solving skills. Responsible for daily quality control checks as assigned. Demonstrates the ability to address customer and staff concerns. Communicates effectively, in a positive and professional manner with staff and physicians, EMS personnel, patients and families. Maintains current certifications and competencies and actively participates on the Unit Based Council, committees and staff meetings.
