Year-long Commitment as Program Head with Spring Season Coaching Responsibilities
Lakeside School, an independent coeducational day school located in North Seattle, is currently recruiting for a girls lacrosse program head and head girls varsity lacrosse coach beginning in the 2017-2018 school year. The official start date is July 1, 2017. There will be meeting and hiring responsibilities in the fall/winter. The lacrosse season begins on February 26, 2018 and concludes in mid- to late- May. This is a part-time position (approximately .25 FTE per month).
The girls lacrosse program head and head girls varsity lacrosse coach, reporting to the director of athletics, will join an athletics program that includes 23 varsity teams, most of which have both sub-varsity and middle-school counterparts. The girls lacrosse program generally includes two teams (Varsity and JV) at the Upper School and two teams at the Middle School. The program head and head varsity coach is directly responsible for the coaching of the varsity team as well as oversight and coordination of the entire program. Specific responsibilities include:
• Compliance with all Lakeside School and WSLA policies and procedures;
• Supervision and instructions of girls lacrosse student-athletes during all team activities;
• Maintenance and inventory of girls lacrosse program equipment and apparel;
• Development of girls lacrosse practice and competition schedules;
• Oversight of the girls lacrosse budget;
• Management and supervision of the girls lacrosse coaching staff;
• Management of the girls lacrosse summer camp and activities;
• Attendance at monthly program head meetings (evenings);
• Attendance at monthly faculty meetings (out-of-season);
• Support of multi-sport participation for student-athletes;
• Promotion of balanced achievement in all areas of school life for student-athletes; and
• Development of a long-term vision for the girls lacrosse program and the creation of a scope and sequence to support that vision.
Requirements and Qualifications
Successful candidates must be 21 years of age, possess a valid driver’s license, and be available for all practices and competitions from 3:00 p.m. during the week with additional availability on Saturdays. Experience coaching girls/women’s lacrosse at the club, high school, or college level is required. References should address the candidate’s ability to successfully instruct a wide range of student-athletes, work collaboratively with all constituencies related to an athletics program, and develop a lacrosse program. Additionally, candidates must satisfactorily complete a nationwide criminal background check, a Washington State Patrol background check and must possess, or obtain prior to their season, First Aid and CPR certifications.
