Full-Time/Part-Time: Part Time
The person in this position will work as a Student Assistance Program Specialist, providing collaborative prevention, intervention, and post-intervention services to students who are at risk of struggling academically due to unmet basic needs. The SAP Specialist will intervene in time of crisis, providing direct services that will help mitigate the pressing concerns. When necessary, the SAP Specialist will advocate for the student through referrals and community outreach. The SAP specialist will assess for future obstacles to the student's academic achievement and take a preventive approach to the student's needs by developing an action plan targeting areas of potential concern. The SAP specialist will collaborate with other on-campus departments with the goal of providing a holistic array of student support services. The SAP Specialist is expected to understand ethical guidelines of the helping professions, have knowledge of community resources in the area, have expertise in assessment of needs and problem solving skills, and have the ability to work with a realm of presenting issues.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and over three (3) years of relevant full-time experience.
Master's degree preferred in counseling, psychology, social work, human resources, or related field.
