| Assistant Softball Coach (Term, Part-time, 10 months) |
Grinnell College, Department of Physical Education/Intercollegiate Athletics, has an immediate opening for a part-time Assistant Softball Coach.
Responsibilities: This position will be responsible for assisting the head softball coach with on-field coaching, practice preparation, game planning and recruiting. Off the field responsibilities may include social media oversight, development of marketing materials for recruits as well as current team happenings using InDesign and Photoshop, online evaluation of recruits, oversight of the team’s strength and conditioning with aid from Grinnell College Athletics Strength and Conditioning Coach, scouting materials, project management, collaborating with other coaches or college faculty/staff, organize classroom sessions, attend softball staff and department staff meetings and training. Strengths of the assistant will determine alignment of work responsibilities, including positional coaching assignments (infield, outfield, pitching, catching, and/or offense). As a building proctor, this position will also be responsible to welcome and verify access of all patrons who enter the Bear ’39 Recreation Athletics Center.
The salary range for this 10 month position is $12,000 – 16,000. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree preferred. Applicants must demonstrate willingness and capabilities to abide by NCAA and Midwest Conference rules. Requires the ability to recruit, coach, and teach student-athletes in a high academic setting. The ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while producing high quality work is essential. Having excellent interpersonal and communication skills – orally, by phone, in person, and in writing - and the ability to work independently and as a member of a team is necessary. Also, the ability to problem solve, think critically, and seek professional development opportunities is needed and expected. Experience playing and/or coaching at the college level is preferred.
