| Posting Summary: University of Virginia Department of Student Health is seeking to fill a 40 hour per week full-time Insurance and Financial Coordinator role. This position is responsible for the University of Virginia's hard waiver program as well as performing financial duties. Duties include assisting international and domestic students with hard waiver issues and serves as a liaison between students and the student health insurance vendor. Serves as an information and training resource to University faculty and staff concerning hard waiver requirements. Communicates with plan providers regarding marketing, enrollment, claims filing, and other administrative issues that affect benefits and access to care. Assists with implementation of the online enrollment process. Develops infographics and web content to educate students on insurance. The position is also responsible for handling the fundamental aspects of the department's financial recordkeeping, including recording financial transactions, accounts receivable, payable and reconciliation.|

Required Minimum Level of Education: *Degree or Equivalent Experience Required
Required Specific Degree/Training: Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field; or equivalent related experience.
Required Minimum Level of Experience: Some - up to 4 years
Required Specific Experience: Experience in preparing, examining, and analyzing accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.
Preferred Minimum Level of Experience: Some - up to 4 years

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and auditing standards. Communication and interpersonal relations. Independent judgment and the ability to set work priorities. Knowledge and ability to interpret, develop and use complex spreadsheets, and the ability to compose correspondence.
Required skills: the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, customer service skills, oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, ability to meet deadlines, and the ability to problem solve and negotiate resolutions. The ability to track, bill, and reconcile highly sensitive confidential patient information, following Student Health policies and procedures, HIPPA security, and FERPA. Skilled in data entry, customer service, Microsoft Word, Excel, A2K3, insurance, billing, marketing, oral and written communication skills (tact and diplomacy skills in dealing with sensitive issues). Knowledge of office practices and ability to prioritize work.
