This position is in the Department of Social Work / Admissions of the Brown School. Office located within Brown School on the Danforth Campus. PC laptop is provided.
The Admissions and Recruitment Specialist supports all aspects of the admissions process with a primary focus on prospective student outreach and recruitment, application review and evaluation, applicant interviews, admissions counseling, and other activities to engage highly qualified candidates for the Brown School’s top-ranked Master of Social Work (MSW) program and Master of Public Health (MPH) program.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Recruitment and Outreach
- Meet with prospective students and other University constituents in a variety of venues and present detailed information about the Brown School in a knowledgeable, professional and informative manner.
- Develop and maintain proficient knowledge of programs, curriculum, faculty expertise, field education, accreditation, and admissions policies and procedures.
- Serve as helpful and knowledgeable direct contact for prospective students; interpret policies and procedures and provide adept guidance throughout the inquiry, application and admissions process through various channels of communication.
- Advise and counsel prospective students to assess fit with the Brown School and direction in the program based on short and long-term goals and interests.
- Assist in the coordination of on and off-campus recruitment events such as Admitted Students Weekend, preview days and information sessions, focus groups, graduate school and Idealist fairs, professional conferences and regional events and receptions.
- Contribute to outreach efforts to build campus, community and partnership affiliations with target populations such as service corps, underrepresented minority groups, veterans, etc.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with Brown School administration, faculty, staff, alumni, students, advisors and other constituents integral to student recruitment efforts.
2. Prospect Management and Applicant Evaluation
- Maintain accurate prospective student records in the admissions CRM system and assist with reporting needs.
- Provide consistent and detailed review of admission applications, to include accurate evaluation of transcripts and other supporting materials.
- Assist in coordinating the review process for admission, scholarship, and special programs.
- Work closely with the Director, Assistant Director, and academic programs faculty and staff to evaluate admissions criteria and scholarship allocation strategy.
3. Perform other duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Prior public health and/or social work experience and/or one year of admissions, recruitment, sales, marketing or other relevant work experience.

- Firm understanding of the importance of confidentiality, student privacy and FERPA.
- Travel and some evening/weekend work required.
Master's degree in social work, public health, or related area and previous admissions and recruitment experience.
The hiring range for this position is $35,256 - $ 44,967 annually.
