The Math Emporium at Virginia Tech is accepting applications for a Senior Developer. In this role the incumbent's duties will include but are not limited to:
-systems analysis and programming.
-design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable and secure web-based applications for the Math Emporium.
-software development, maintenance, integration, consultation, configuration, systems analysis, design and security services for applications and servers used by an Internet-based student community active 24/7.
-develop new applications as part of a leadership team developing and implementing innovative data-informed policies and strategies for supporting student learning.
-Demonstrated ability to design, develop, and maintain Java web applications.
-Demonstrated ability to install and configure a Java Servlet Container.
-Demonstrated ability to design and maintain a relational database.
-Demonstrated ability to use an Object Relational Mapping technology.
-Demonstrated ability to use issue-tracking software.
-Excellent communication skills
-Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or related field.
-Demonstrated ability to design, develop, and maintain Java web applications with Apache Wicket.
-Demonstrated understanding of dependency injection frameworks, preferably Guice.
-Demonstrated ability to install and configure Apache Tomcat.
-Demonstrated ability to install and optimize a PostgreSQL database.
-Demonstrated ability to use Hibernate.
-Demonstrated ability to use JQuery.
-Demonstrated ability to use Linux.
-Demonstrated ability to use JIRA.
-Demonstrated experience with IntelliJ IDEA.
-Advanced degree in computer science, information technology, or related field.
