The Mathematics Department seeks instructors and instructional faculty members of other ranks to teach undergraduate mathematics classes and to perform departmental service in support of instruction, such as curriculum development and student mentoring.
-Masters degree in mathematics or masters degree in a related field with a concentration in mathematics completed by beginning of employment. -Experience teaching college-level mathematics. -Effective communication skills.
-Documented outstanding effectiveness teaching in a curriculum, like that offered by the Virginia Tech Mathematics Department, designed to serve the needs of a large, diverse group of university students in engineering and the sciences. -Potential to teach upper division undergraduate courses. -Potential to contribute to curriculum development, including programming in support of computer-mediated instruction. -For at least one position, interest and experience in computer-mediated instruction, as offered in the Math Emporium. -For at least one position, experience and interest in teaching mathematics content courses for pre-service secondary teachers, mathematics content courses for pre-service elementary teachers, or courses on the use of technology in education.
