The New Jersey State Library seeks two dynamic, innovative and collaborative librarians with a strong commitment to customer service to join the State Library Information Center (SLIC). Under direction, the successful candidates will provide high quality reference services to state government; Thomas Edison State University staff, students and mentors; researchers; New Jersey libraries; and the general public. Responsibilities may also include, but are not limited to, serving as collection and reference subject specialist for funding information or business; ordering and maintaining print and electronic resources in assigned areas; coordinating training sessions and attendance; designing and conducting webinars and classes; creating tutorials; providing technology assistance; developing research guides; providing web content; and promoting library services and collections.

NOTE: Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
-Provides accurate, timely and courteous reference service to all constituencies served by the New Jersey State Library.
-Does the work involved in reviewing, selecting, purchasing, classifying and maintaining print and electronic resources in subject specific areas or collections with a focus on the needs of the primary communities served by the New Jersey State Library Information Center.
-Develops and conducts training for library customers and staff in the use of library resources.
-Coordinates training and class registration for library customers.
-Develops content for the library web site, including research guides.
-Utilizes and may administer various types of software and electronic information systems in use throughout the Library.
-Operates library computers and equipment and can assist others with their use.
-Resolves library customer concerns.
-Participates on library committees and teams.
-Participates in meetings and gives talks before professional and public groups.
-Develops and conducts programs geared to stimulate library use, promote electronic subject specialty resources, and inform the community of library services.
-Prepares accurate and informative statistical, subject, and other reports containing findings, conclusions, and recommendations.
-Writes about and describes library materials, services and training for the web site and other information outlets.
-Establishes and maintains library records and files.
Knowledge and Abilities:
-Ability to conduct effective reference interviews.
-Knowledge of library techniques and tools used to gather data and information; the ability to recognize resources by bibliographic methods; to locate information in specific sources; to assemble ideas from scattered sources; and to deliver requested information to state departments, state government officers, other libraries and the general public in a timely and courteous manner.
-Knowledge of electronic resources and the ability to search them successfully.
