Description Jean & Alexander Heard Libraries at Vanderbilt University seeks an energetic, creative, and highly customer-oriented team member to support the academic mission of the Library system and Vanderbilt University by serving as a member of the public services team of the Peabody Library. This person will be the primary coordinator for reserves, will coordinate the Curriculum Materials Center, and participate in the staffing of the service desk(s). This position reports to the Peabody Library Public Services Coordinator and works closely with the library liaison for Teaching & Learning/Special Education. The primary schedule for this position is 10:00 am – 7:00 pm Monday through Friday, with some sporadic weekend coverage possible. Key Functions and Expected Performances: · Coordinates the Curriculum Materials Center (CMC), youth, and test collections, including maintenance of the CMC Research Guides. · Directs stack maintenance for the CMC and youth collections, ensuring items are placed in appropriate locations and marking/labeling new materials. · Provides class tours and orientations of the CMC and youth collection. · Responds to patron inquiries concerning the CMC, youth, and test collections via email, telephone, and in person. · Supervises 1 or more student workers in the CMC. · Provides collection management support to the library liaison for Teaching & Learning/Special Education. · Distributes materials from the test collection and enforces legal restrictions related to access of the test collection. · Identifies and maintains support of emerging educational technologies for inclusion in the CMC that support K12 education. · Coordinates print and electronic reserves for Peabody Library; locates, scans, and/or uploads articles for course reading lists in the campus learning management system. · Provides training and support on SIPX integration. · Communicates and assists faculty and administrative assistants with eReserves. · Works closely with the Peabody Library Director and other staff to identify and provide programming for the Peabody College community, in direct support of the Vanderbilt University Academic Strategic Plan. · Participates in staffing the Peabody Library Service Desk. · Assists in training Peabody library student workers. · Participates in system-wide library initiatives and committees. Preferred skills, experience, and education: · Bachelor's degree · Background/experience in K12 environment (such as an education degree) · Experience working in libraries · Experience working in a higher education environment · Project management experience · Knowledge of children's and young adult literature, both fiction and non-fiction · Experience with Brightspace learning management system and/or SIPX digital course materials systems · Customer service experience · Experience leading or managing a team · Comfortable working with new technologies · Strong customer service skills · Ability to assist in the moving of objects, sitting, bending, lifting, pulling, pushing, walking, stooping, standing and turning
