The Nurse Manager of Emergency Services will provide leadership and demonstrates responsibility and accountability for the delivery of safe, quality, patient care for assigned departments on a 24 hour basis. The Manager ensures department's standard of nursing practice, nursing policies and procedures meet legal, and all accrediting and regulatory agency requirements. Directs the continuity of care through demonstrated use of interdisciplinary team approach to patient care. Collaborates and shares pertinent patient information with physicians, patients, and other members of the healthcare team regarding patient progress, and treatment.
Develops and implements+ ongoing programs to measure, monitor, assesses and to improve quality of nursing care delivered to patients. Works toward hospital-wide improvement in meeting core measure, patient safety, and service excellence goals in assigned units. Ensures the effective coordination of the patient's care with other services and departments throughout the hospital.
Required Registration, Licensure or Certification
Current Licensure in the State of Kansas as a Registered Professional Nurse(RN)
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) verification course, as specified in policy
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) verification course, as specified in policy .CTAS verification course, as specified in policy
Successful completion of the Wesley Dysrhythmia exam within allotted timeframe, as specified in policy
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), as specified in policy
Preferred Registration, Licensure or Certification
Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) verification course, as specified in policy
Required Education : Bachelor's degree in Nursing or currently enrolled in a BSN program.
Experience : Three years supervisory experience
Required Knowledge and Skills
Ability to utilize the nursing process in the provision of nursing care including, but not limited to, administering treatments and medications, interpreting diagnostic tests, formulating a plan of care, collaborating with other health care providers and providing education to patients and/or significant others
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively
Possess personal computer skills
Ability to multi-task, delegate and prioritize
Possess problem-solving and critical thinking skills
