The Maryland Port Administration (MPA) is an agency of the Maryland Department of Transportation. Its mission is to increase the flow of waterborne commerce through the ports of the State of Maryland in a manner that provides benefit to the citizens of the State. As the public port authority in Baltimore, the MPA not only owns marine terminals and dredged material placement facilities, but also interfaces with stakeholders across the entire public and private spectrum, including but not limited to: shipping lines, cargo interests, agents and forwarders, stevedores and terminal operating companies, the International Longshoreman Association, private terminals, federal agencies such as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and city, county and state governments. The Maryland Department of Transportation's Maryland Port Administration (MPA) is recruiting for a Security Specialist (DOT Executive Assistant II). The primary purpose of this position is to perform maritime security functions reflecting those attributes and skills of a certified Facility Security Officer. The Security Specialist will work with MPA commercial management regarding personnel access and physical security of the World Trade Center (WTC). In addition, this incumbent will ensure the personnel and physical security of MPA terminals while incorporating appropriate security measures. This position will further affirm the execution of the MPA's Facility Security Plan (FSP), Office of Security policy and procedure development and updates, and the conduct of drills and exercises. This position will also be responsible for meeting those requirements set forth within the Maritime Transportation Security Act of 2002 (MTSA), Safe Ports Act of 2006, and 33 Code of Federal Regulations (33 CFR). Ongoing training will occur under the tutelage of the Director, a Senior Security Specialist and other staff members as appropriate. This position is classified as emergency essential. The current vacancy is located in Baltimore, Maryland.
