Summary of Essential Job Duties: The Registered Nurse, Clinical Nurse IV, as an expert professional practitioner, assumes responsibility and accountability for the expert application of the nursing process and the delivery of patient care. Consistently demonstrates professional skills and abilities, utilizes knowledge base and exemplary leadership and educational skills to direct and supervise the clinical performance of others in the role of collegial consultant and resource person. Demonstrates motivation and creativity and serves as the catalyst for effective changes within nursing at the unit, service line and institutional levels. The Clinical Nurse IV performs within the scope of responsibility, duties and accountability at the facility department and position levels including knowledge of practice of the clinical/technical skills necessary to the position consistent with the Nurse Practice Act. Nursing Job duties are to meet the Nurse Practice Act, Title 22, Joint Commission, and The Plan for Provision of Nursing Care and The Plan for Provision of Care to Patients, and other regulatory requirements. Provides and documents direct and indirect patient care services that ensures the safety, comfort, personal hygiene, and protection of patients. Provides care and patient education on disease prevention and restorative measures. Provides direct and indirect patient care services, including, but not limited to, the administration of medications and therapeutic agents necessary to implement the treatment, disease prevention, or rehabilitative plan of care. Performs skin tests, immunizations, phlebotomy and the initiation of peripheral venous access. Observes signs and symptoms of illness, reactions to medications/treatments, general behavior, and/or general physical condition. Assesses the signs, symptoms, reactions, behaviors, or general appearance to determine normal versus abnormal characteristics. Plans and implements care based on observations. Implements appropriate reporting, referrals and care in accordance with standardized procedures. Initiates emergency procedures when indicated. Provides care to special patient populations and patients with diverse cultural backgrounds. Identifies patient's readiness for learning and ability to follow directions/instructions and give consent. Identifies and assesses patient safety concerns with respect to age and developmental considerations. Intervenes to provide a safe environment and evaluates effectiveness of intervention for patients. Performs other duties as required in the Prenatal Diagnosis Center.
Qualification Requirements/Preferences: Education Certifications/Licensure Experience Physical Abilities Educational Requirements: BSN required License/Certification/Registration Requirements: California State RN License required BCLS certified ACLS certified Inpatient Obstetrics Certification and/or eligible for Ambulatory Nursing Certification Added sub-specialty Certification in Electronic Fetal Monitoring Experience: 5+ years experience in Labor and Delivery Meets specialty specific clinical competencies for assigned clinical nurse level and area. Working knowledge of applicable standards of practice. Demonstrates a commitment to customer service and an ability to meet the needs and expectations of patients and health care colleagues. Full command (verbal and written) of the English Language. Meets clinical criteria and protocol for Clinical Nurse assigned level. The candidate should have previous (and recent) Labor and Delivery experience, have or be eligible to take the added subspecialty Certification in Electronic Fetal Monitoring and have Inpatient Obstetrical certification and/or be eligible for Ambulatory Nursing Certification within 1.5 years of hire (they have to have 2000 hours of documented hours in outpatient and then six months to take the exam).
