We are seeking a Senior UNIX Engineer /Design Engineer to join our global Services team and be instrumental as the aligned engineer tasked with delivering solutions for our Banking and Finance (BFS) division at Macquarie. You will be expected to work closely with the business to help support various projects in delivering their business strategy. These projects may range from on-premise initiatives to being front and centre in helping them transition their environment to the Cloud platform, both Public and Private.
Maintaining good relationships with the BFS users and the wider global IT team
Being accountable for the ongoing delivery of BFS led initiatives
Project technical lead (Consulting, Build, Deployment, Migration)
Building close relationships with Service aligned UNIX engineers
We are seeking candidates with a wealth of previous experiences in building and supporting enterprise class installations.
The following attributes are considered essential:
Previous experience in a UNIX engineering and design capacity, preferably in a global financial services organisation
Minimum 7 years experience working as a UNIX engineer in Project delivery capacity
Red Hat certified
In-depth knowledge of troubleshooting, capacity planning and performance tuning
The following attributes would be highly desirable:
played a significant role in a large engineering project within a Design role
demonstrated experience with Cloud (AWS & OpenStack) and Cloud Service Broker deployments
solid experience with various virtualisation technologies (e.g. VMware)
demonstrable experience in documenting environment build patterns for standard and potentially repeatable deployments
detailed knowledge of TCP networking and associated protocols
exposure to InfraOps/DevOps working methodologies
experience with automation and orchestration tools (e.g. Puppet, CFEngine, vCAC)
demonstrable experience with design and build of Highly Available Architectures
