The Financial Services Institute (FSI), the leading trade organization for independent financial services firms and independent financial advisors, is hiring a Legal Assistant for its Washington, DC office.
A strong candidate will have proven and effective organizational and time management skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to take initiative are essential. Candidates must be able to work independently and within a team. Requires minimum of 1 year prior experience in a legal assistant or paralegal role. Qualified applicants who are considering going to law school or interested in lobbying are encouraged to apply. A general background in the financial services industry or within a trade association is desired, but not required
Enhance the effectiveness of FSI’s Regulatory Affairs attorneys by:
Tracking and analyzing relevant regulations and other developments,
Gathering and analyzing important information relevant to FSI’s advocacy efforts,
Assisting with the development of FSI’s position on an issue,
Providing analytical writing and editing in collaboration with Regulatory Affairs attorneys, and
Developing unique solutions to address various regulatory issues faced by FSI members.
Coordinate and run internal and external meetings and prepare and distribute necessary meeting materials,
Coordinate advocacy efforts with Membership, Marketing, and Communications teams,
Coordinate advocacy efforts with FSI’s Research Manager, and
Perform other duties as may be assigned.
Bachelor’s Degree or relevant Associate’s Degree
Applicants without a degree with at least three years experience as a legal assistant under the supervision of a lawyer will be considered and are encouraged to apply
Minimum of 1 year prior experience as a legal assistant or paralegal.
Proven time management and organizational skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to analyze a complex issue and communicate it in easy to understand terms
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong PC skills using Microsoft Office software
Financial services industry or trade association experience preferred but not required
