Accountabilities:Role will focus on the digital organization, quality of content and navigation on colgate.edu. Responsible for maintaining, reviewing, approving and enhancing content on the web and mobile applications; training campus stakeholders on best practices; usability testing; and leveraging data and analytics to ensure content optimized for university audiences, search engines, and accessibility. Essential Functions: Individuals will be expected to master the following technical competencies:Content Creation: Demonstrated ability to translate university messages into web content to support university communications. Ability to write, edit, and proofread high-quality, clean copy for the web. Manage and execute the production of graphic, photo, web based and admissions materials.Curate and adapt content for designated communications channels. Demonstrated ability to manage data, analytics, etc.Communications Planning and Strategy: Demonstrated expertise and ability to analyze, plan, develop and deliver digital content to support all forms of university communications.Communications Technology: Demonstrated ability to leverage advanced features of all relevant content creation systems and technologies. Ability to efficiently create, collaborate, and manage files within content creation and content management tools employed within the communications division. Demonstrated ability to use content creation software to create content for deployment across multiple platforms and media. Specific tools include, but are not limited to: Google Drive, Microsoft Office, Basecamp, analytics, WordPress, Drupal, Sitefinity, SiteImprove, etc.Communications User ExperienceDemonstrated ability to create web layouts, content structures and user experiences on an enterprise web site, that maximize effective communication and goal completion. Skilled in advanced concepts of digital user experiences and interfaces.Vendor ManagementDemonstrated ability to collaborate with vendors and ensure these vendors perform to expectations. Customer Service: Demonstrated ability to understand and translate the communications requirements of numerous university stakeholders into specific communications for specific audience segments. Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with campus constituents as well as external constituents on creation of content. Demonstrated ability to support and train non-technical users in the use of basic content creation and software systems, such as a content management system. Qualifications: - A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in digital media, communications, journalism, public relations, marketing, or related field required.- Demonstrated ability to write and edit content for the web. - Understanding of graphic design principles and information architecture.- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and write basic HTML and CSS.- Ability to manage multiple projects with varying deadlines.- Experience working in web content management systems. - Must be willing and able to learn new web tools and adapt to new technologies.- Must be capable of working collegially with a diverse group of faculty, staff and students on a daily basis. Additional Preferred Qualifications: - A Bachelor's degree in digital media, communications, journalism, public relations, marketing, or related field is desirable.- Higher Education experience is preferred.- Two years of experience in the creation of web content is preferred.- Experience in the management of large-scale websites.- Drupal and WordPress experience is a plus.
