Position Status: Regular full-time
Prepare Monthly and Special Financial Reports. Establish, interpret, and analyze financial records. Maintain accounting practices to ensure accurate and reliable data necessary for Center operations. Perform complex and detailed reconciliations with minimal supervision. Work with numbers in an accurate and rapid manner to meet established deadlines. Reviews and audits financial records and reports for accuracy and conformance with State and University procedures and regulations. Advises department heads and administrative personnel on accounting matters. Prepare various operational and management reports; adhoc reporting as required. Interpret complex University and government policies for personnel. Will assist with training sessions for staff. Will process new accounts set-up, account revisions and account closes. Will prepare periodic external reports. Will serve as liaison with Budget Office on main campus in Richardson. Financial reporting to include annual budget reports and budget journals. Will assist with post award management. Will advise and interpret research funding awards, approve and/or monitor accounting and procurement expenditures consistent with regulatory and University practices.
Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or other Business area with experience in financial analysis and reporting. A minimum of four years in governmental accounting and a working knowledge of PeopleSoft. Knowledge of Federal Regulations, Microsoft Office, advanced knowledge of financial reporting tools (i.e. Access, Advanced Excel, Crystal Reporting, etc.)
Preferred Education and Experience:
Strong analytical skills, effective customer service, and problem solving skills required.
Two or more years of post-award experience with NIH, NSF, or other grant funding.
Knowledge of General Accepted Accounting Principles and State of Texas Procurement guidelines.
