The Department of Music at UMBC seeks a sell-qualified Visiting Lecturer (Full-time) in Music Technology, to begin August 21, 2017. This position will be responsible for all 1st year courses for the music technology major, teaching students in all five of the music majors the required music technology core curriculum, and mentoring upper level required senior projects and supervising their internships. This individual will provide research support to performance faculty, producing documentation (video and audio recordings) of their performances, and will supervise recording of all student performances. Individual must demonstrate required skills and aptitude for maintenance of music technology teaching spaces. Located in the heart of the Baltimore-Washington corridor, the Department of Music is a growing diverse and supportive community enrolling 160 undergraduate majors. Housed in the University’s striking new Performing Arts and Humanities Building (2014), the Music wing includes a 350-seat performance space with superior acoustics, new 9-foot Steinway grand pianos, and fully equipped recording and Keyboard Labs. All tenure-track faculty maintain robust careers in performance, conducting, or composing on the regional and national level, with many having a research focus in contemporary art-music. Salary competitive. Masters required, with successful college teaching experience or equivalent graduate-level training.
