|TRAINING AND RESEARCH Ã¯ Develop and implement year-round, research-based, and differentiated training activities and materials that are responsive to Puente counseling component and mentoring component needs. Ã¯ Participate in the design and development of PuenteÃs Community College Training Plan, and participate in developing a training framework, which supports the Puente Model. Ã¯ As part of a cross-disciplinary team, develop and conduct the 8-day institute to train Puente team members and design and implement ongoing training workshops throughout the year. Ã¯ Keep abreast of research and trends on educationally disadvantaged student populations and provide innovative strategies and methods for site counselors to apply in their coordination of the program at their sites. Ã¯ Contribute to basic Puente training offerings through the creation of training material, especially within the area of counseling and advising. Ã¯ Develop materials for mentor component |
PROGRAM IMPLEMENTATION AND SITE SUPPORT Ã¯ Participate in the overall development, implementation and evaluation of the Puente high school program. Ã¯ Assist in the selection of qualified site program counselors. Ã¯ Ensure counseling component and mentor activities at sites comply with Puente pedagogy and principles for equity and inclusion. Ã¯ Provide support for counselors in implementing and maintaining a family component at their sites; guide, support and monitor the parent component at all Puente secondary schools. Ã¯ Through e-mail, telephone conversations and site visits, support and monitor the work of counselors throughout the year. Ã¯ In collaboration with Puente's data and research unit, create and manage effective data reporting systems for Puente teams and administrators to use in reporting student outcomes. Ã¯ Work collaboratively with community college and high school coordinators in the implementation of the Puente Project model, and apply quality assurance practices. Ã¯ Assist with Expansion of new community college sites. Ã¯ Support community college Initiatives, such as STEM Pathway.
MEETINGS AND REPORTING Ã¯ Attend and participate in community college weekly and quarterly meetings, statewide planning meetings and retreats. Provide updates on assigned sites, and counseling component. Ã¯ Attend required meetings (including by not limited to CEP, E&I, Transfer Preparation, UC and CSU Counselor Conferences).
PRESENTATIONS AND ELECTRONIC RESOURCES Ã¯ Contribute to development of electronic materials for PuenteÃs website, and other marketing materials such as CC Fact Sheet and other reports. Ã¯ As necessary, make presentations to professional, educational, and community conferences and organizations about the community college Puente Project.Ã¯ Minimum 3 years experience in academic counseling in a community college setting. Ã¯ Excellent analytical skills, writing, project management and problem-solving abilities. Ã¯ Demonstrated administrative and leadership skills. Ã¯ Experience in collecting, analyzing, and presenting student outcome data to inform practice. Ã¯ Demonstrated success working with educationally disadvantaged students. Ã¯ Demonstrated success in working with colleagues and professionals to improve outcomes for educationally disadvantaged students. Ã¯ Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary environment. Ã¯ Demonstrated success in designing and presenting workshops for community college faculty. Ã¯ Willingness and ability to travel to regional sites and statewide training sites. Ã¯ Bilingual English-Spanish speaking and writing skills strongly preferred.
Education/Training: Ã¯ BachelorÃs Degree or equivalent experience required. Ã¯ MasterÃs Degree preferred.
