|PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT, IMPLEMENTATION & SUPPORT Under the direction of the Associate Director of Academics: Ã¯ Co-develops and implements most aspects of the Pre College TRiO academic enrichment programs, including Academic Support, Saturday Academy and six (6) week Summer Residential Program. Ã¯ Designs and implements academic enrichment programs in Math & Science. Ã¯ Recruits and enrolls K-14 students for program participation in services Ã¯ Develops student academic plans to ensure post-secondary admission eligibility. Ã¯ Implements grade-appropriate college-going workshops, curricula, materials, and activities. Ã¯ Develops and implements college-going services and activities to students and parents. Ã¯ Maintains relationships with higher education institutions and community entities. Maintains collaborative relationships with other college-going programs and professionals in STEM fields. Ã¯ Collects and documents student enrollment/service data, participant contacts, and progress. Ã¯ Contributes to program reports. Ã¯ Co-plans and implements co-curricular math & science program activities including field trips. Ã¯ Identifies organizations and individuals and develops relationships to further the math & science programming. |
DIRECT STUDENT SUPPORT Ã¯ Provides individual and small group support in math & science. Ã¯ Assists students interested in STEM careers in researching, choosing, and compiling their potential college major(s), colleges, scholarship and internship opportunities. Ã¯ In tandem with Upward Bound counselors, contacts and works with UBMS seniors once a month to check on the progress on their college applications. Works with all UBMS underclassmen quarterly to check on their academic progress. Ã¯ Facilitates in-person and on-line workshops to help prepare students for the math & science portion of the SAT/ACT, Common Core and other standardized tests. Ã¯ Identifies and supports students struggling in math & science and develops a progress plan with student. Ã¯ Engages in other duties, integral to the success of the program, as assigned by the Director and Associate Directors.Ã¯ Ability to plan and implement large academic and co-curricular programs. Ã¯ Comprehensive experience in supporting educationally underserved students regarding postsecondary opportunities and careers in science & math. Ã¯ Ability to read and analyze student transcripts Ã¯ Knowledge and experience working with a diverse student population, and sensitivity to issues related to culture, race, ethnicity, and socio-economic status. Ã¯ Skilled in communicating clearly and effectively verbally and in writing. Ã¯ Ability to maintain cooperative relationships with school district administrators, school counselors, principals, teachers, and community contacts. Ã¯ Ability to learn and implement skills and knowledge developed through program training.
