Job Requisition Number: 23067. In 2017, a new department will be established to oversee the operations of the software solution installed during 2016 to replace the university's constellation of disparate student systems. The department is part of Information Systems and Technology in the division of Administration and Finance.
The objective of the new department is to operationalize a continuous cycle of technical improvement and feature enhancements in the new PeopleSoft Campus Solutions system and its associated applications implemented as part of the Student Information Systems Project. These applications support processes in admissions, enrollment, registration, financial aid, student accounts, advising, and a student portal. To ensure the success of these mission-critical systems, the new department will be staffed with a blend of technical and functional experts who will test and implement new features, respond to campus needs, and keep all systems running optimally throughout the academic cycle.
The position involves developing and maintaining the security of data and systems as the primary responsibility of the position. Plans, designs, develops, implements and maintains systems and programs to insure the integrity, reliability and security of data and systems.
Application Administration Applies advanced systems/infrastructure concepts to do the following: ?Define, design, implement and document highly complex networked systems and solutions. ?Propose and implement highly complex system enhancements (software and hardware updates) that will improve the performance and reliability of the system. ?Manage centralized computer servers and make recommendations for purchase or upgrade of new computer hardware. ?Conduct highly complex programming tasks in coordination with developers. ?Apply advanced systems/infrastructure concepts and knowledge to operate the campus' enterprise systems including network, firewalls, load balancers, servers, databases and application layers for the suite of student systems. ?Execute security control to prevent hackers from infiltrating campus information. Administer security policies to control access to systems. ?Develop complex monitoring/alert plan to ensure systems are highly available. Work collaboratively on installing, configuring and testing offsite systems for disaster recovery and business continuity. ?Manage capacity for central servers in coordination with Database, System and Network Administrators and make recommendations for purchase or upgrade of hardware, operating systems, databases and application software. ?Primarily responsible for researching, planning, scheduling and implementing application upgrades and patches. ?Log and track vendor bugs. Manage development in compliance with vendor support contracts.
Application Support ?Analyze, acquire, install, modify and support application software and utilities, tools and appliances working closely with Database and Operating System Administrators to configure the operating systems and databases. ?Conduct highly complex systems support activities. ?Review and manage code migrations to QAT and Production environments. ?Provide 24x7 support on a rotating basis for the application software.
Leadership and Communication ?Interact with senior level internal management, internal and external Developers and Business Analysts. ?Keep current with emerging technologies. ?Work independently and make actionable recommendations to managers, directors, and senior stakeholders based on technical expertise. ?Effectively communicate (verbal and written) complex technical subject matter to a variety of audiences. ?Demonstrate values of excellence, innovation and integrity. ?Collaborate and mentor other technical, functional or support staff on complex technical issues to provide effective and maintainable solutions. ?Demonstrate good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.?Minimum of 5 years? experience with PeopleSoft Application Administration and/or Development or equivalent enterprise application. ?Minimum of 2 years? experience with Linux System Administration. ?Minimum of 2 years? experience with Oracle Database Administration or equivalent enterprise database. ?Must be able to communicate (verbal and written) technical information in a clear and concise manner across the organization and at varying levels. ?Has knowledge, skills and abilities associated with problem identification and resolution. ?Bachelor?s degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training
