|Assists division head with planning library-wide collections projects (i.e. collection inventory and measuring, integation of collections into the Gardner Stacks), and implementation of improved or new services. Gathers and reports departmental collections statistical data (i.e. circulation and privileges desks usage statistics, patron counts). Works with the division head to design useful collections data from Millennium (the library's intgrated library systems), spreadsheets, and reports. Maintains and updates the department's wiki and web pages, making corrections and adding new information as needed. Maintains hours for Doe and Moffitt library units. |
Maintains a regular assignment on the Privileges Desk (including Saturdays); issues library cards and establishes borrowing privileges, collects library fines and fees, and interprets library policies and procedures as related to library access and borrowing privileges; resolves problems/answers questions regarding billing or borrowing issues. Refers complicated issues to the Manager of Library Privileges.
Edits and updates Millennium item records. Annotates and reports holdings or bibilographic record errors. Assists circulation staff with receipt of new materials, processing received NRLF requests, processing holds, etc. Assists circulation staff processing paging and scanning requests, claims returned, missing and bill replacement searches. Assists with clearing backlogs of returned library materials, including checking in and sorting. Assists with stack shifts and collection inventory.
Orders office supplies for Access Services Division monitors supply of maps, leaflets and other informational flyers for public service desks, and maintains supply records (expenditures). Serves as a departmental PC Expert. Serves as secondary contact for Access Services and Doe/Moffitt Circulation (DMCS) during emergencies (division and DMCS unit heads primary contacts). Attends Library, departmental, and unit meetings. Performs other circulation related duties as assigned.Able to work a Tuesday through Saturday schedule. Related library experience. Working knowledge of Library of Congress classification system. Experience with library circulation systems and online catalogs. Circulation Desk experience assisting library users. Strong public service experience. Strong communication skills (oral and written). Demonstrated ability to display a calm demeanor when assisting library users and while under pressure to complete projects by stated deadlines. Experience using common software applications such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, Powerpoint) and email such as Gmail or bCal (or other email applications) and able to work competently within a PC desktop environment. Demonstrated excellent attendance record. Demonstrated attention to detail.
