Reporting to the Director of Admissions, the Student Services Coordinator, with the working title of International Admissions Counselor, will be responsible for the implementation and coordination of international student recruitment, including an international student communication plan. This position plays a very important role in the recruitment and outreach activities of the Admissions Office. This staff member will meet with prospective students and their parents, secondary school counselors, various groups on and off campus, alumni, and other contacts in a variety of venues to promote the opportunities offered at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. A significant part of the recruitment process will be establishing and nurturing relationships that serve as a conduit for international students to learn about UW-La Crosse. This staff member will collaborate with other Admissions Office staff members, working together to coordinate recruitment activities.
Required Qualifications: · Bachelor's degree Accreditation standards of degree-granting institution meet acceptable levels of quality and academic standards. · Experience working in higher education with students from diverse backgrounds · Ability to engage in international and domestic travel as required by the position · Professional written communication and public speaking skills · Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple competing priorities · Familiarity with computer applications · Valid driver's license (or ability to obtain a valid driver's license) · Valid passport (or ability to obtain a valid passport)* *If the applicant's ability to obtain the necessary visas for international travel required for this position will be restricted due to the passport-issuing country, this factor will be taken into consideration by the university.
Preferred Qualifications: · Master's degree Accreditation standards of degree-granting institution meet acceptable levels of quality and academic standards. · Experience in admissions, recruitment, or marketing in a higher education environment · Understanding of worldwide education systems · Knowledge of immigration, visa, and SEVIS regulations · Experience with database systems such as Oracle/PeopleSoft Campus Solutions and ImageNow · Competency in a second language
This 12-month annual position beginning on or around July 1, 2017, offers a competitive benefit package, including personal vacation and sick leave, and the opportunity to become an exceptional public speaker and build a professional network. A minimum of 8 weeks of international travel expected annually.
