The Senior Copywriter is responsible for writing a variety of marketing copy to engage target audiences in print and digital communications. The copywriter will also be responsible for conducting research and interviews to develop content for our college blog, including premium content offers. In addition to writing, this role will also copyedit and proofread a variety of editorial projects as needed.
We are looking for a highly creative copywriter to write marketing copy that brings our bold new brand voice to life in print and digital communications. This position will be responsible for using a messaging map to inform messaging pillars and the ideal candidate will have experience adhering to editorial brand guidelines.
Successful candidates will be able to draw insights and make connections about what drives artists to pursue their deepest passions and bring that understanding to life by writing incisive copy. Knowing what inspires artists to make a difference with their art and articulating why art is relevant and matters is crucial. Being an artist yourself or having a deep connection to the arts community to truly understand the audience is strongly desired.
The Senior Copywriter will also be responsible for contributing to our college blog by researching and writing content that informs and educates prospective students. Working with the Sr. Digital Marketing Manager, the writer will also create premium content offers to attract and convert leads. The Senior Copywriter must have experience conducting keyword research and writing SEO-friendly copy.
The Senior Copywriter must be able to quickly interpret client needs and work well under tight time constraints. The ideal candidate is well-versed in writing headline copy, concise marketing copy, blog content, premium content offers, has impeccable copyediting skills, and is experienced conducting keyword research to inform SEO-friendly web copy. Successful candidates will have a track record of writing copy that converts leads into customers.
50% Copywriting: The writer is responsible for writing marketing copy for select clients and for the cca.edu website. Print projects include copywriting for posters, postcards, brochures, flyers, invitations, direct mail, signage, etc. Digital projects include copywriting for the market-facing website, email campaigns, and landing pages.
30% Content writing: This role will work closely with the Sr. Digital Marketing Manager to manage content for the college's inbound blog. The Senior Copywriter will strategize, research, and write blog copy and premium content offers including How-to's, Q&A's, quizzes, toolkits, etc. to convert prospective students into leads.
20% Editing: This role is also responsible for copyediting and proofing select marketing and communications projects.
∙ B.A./ B.S.
∙ 5+ years of copywriting experience; ad agency experience is preferred
∙ 3+ years of writing inbound blog copy and premium content offers
∙ Familiar with Chicago Manual of Style
∙ Experience doing keyword research to write SEO copy for websites
∙ Experience with HTML, CSS and content management systems a plus
∙ Experience working with messaging maps and editorial brand guidelines
∙ Excellent attention to detail, editorial judgment, and impeccable copyediting skills
∙ Ability to work well with others, collaborate on projects, and meet tight deadlines
