The Communications Department at MSK is seeking a Community Affairs Manager to join their team.
As the Community Affairs Manager, you will:
Serve as a liaison to provide direction, leadership, and counsel to members of MSK’s senior management on issues related to the community.
Create, lead, and initiate a range of special projects in keeping with the MSK’s mission and goals. Work with MSK program staff to support and/or provide direction and manage interdepartmental, multidisciplinary teams to accomplish goals. Negotiate contracts and agreements, and mediates issues.
Develop and/or support strategic and implementation plans for community outreach initiatives, including those of the Center’s regional network sites, and for programs such as the Office of Diversity, BECH Immigrant Health, and the Ralph Lauren Center for Cancer Care and Prevention. Create programming and support for community lectures, screenings, and other cancer-related educational activities on behalf of the MSK.
Keep abreast of local issues and fosters positive working relationships with local elected officials, community and advocacy groups.
Collaborate with other MSK departments to formulate and develop plans for the dissemination of communications related to construction projects and to the community at large.
Help to tell the MSK Community Outreach story – thru print and digital communications, and in required reporting with local and federal agencies.
Responsible for issues-resolution, as well as negotiation and/or mediation of community concerns.
Manage community affairs budget (with the exception of sponsorships).
Supervise community affairs assistant and share dual report of 2 community outreach staff embedded in regional locations.

A Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 7 years of related experience.
Experience in community affairs on a management level.
Previous experience in health-care setting, government affairs, or large high profile institution is a plus.
Excellent writing and organizational skills.
