This position works with a team of trainers to provide curriculum development, training design and delivery for Child Welfare Department staff and has an emphasis on Safety, Permanency, and Well-being for children. This position further develops and refines curriculum materials for the training program in response to new projects, newly identified best practices, and policy and practice changes initiated by the State Department of Human Services. This position also consults with direct service staff on field practice, consults with field supervisors and managers on training needs and delivery, and participates on DHS and CWP workgroups that look at practice and policy initiatives, sharing training and best practice perspectives. The person will have a primary work site at the PSU Salem Center, ensuring interaction with the main training unit and the central DHS office, and providing a centralized point of access to branch offices. This is a full-time, hourly, limited duration appointment.
Bachelor’s degree in human services related field. Experience in working in Oregon DHS or tribal child welfare work is essential. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Understanding of adult learning theory.
An MSW or Master’s degree in a related field. Bilingual desired. In addition, PSU values cultural competence and personal knowledge/experience in this area is preferred. Experience working with diverse populations. Previous Oregon Child Welfare casework experience.
